Pre-Purchase Classes (8-hour In-Person)
Participants in these HUD Certified courses will learn about the home buying process and gain the
tools and knowledge necessary to help them select the right home for themselves and their
families. The classes are geared to first time home buyers who are ready to begin the home
buying process. We strongly recommend that you attend the class PRIOR to beginning your home
search when possible so that you can be better prepared as your own advocate initiating the
process. However, if you have already begun the process, there is still plenty to gain from taking
this class. See below for a list of the topics covered in the class.
These are HUD Certified course that meet requirements for most lenders or down payment
assistance programs. For customers seeking a certificate of completion please note that you are
required to participate in a one-on-one counseling session with an Avenue Homeownership
Counselor after completing this course. You will be able to sign up for the counseling
appointment immediately following the class. The knowledge gained from the class is essential to
having a successful counseling appointment where you will discuss your specific situation.
